Harlem Gospel Travelers – Rhapsody    amazing harmonies, finest soul vibes, energy to spare.  Nominated for a Grammy – the act that will deserve one the most and not win

Nick Lowe – Indoor Safari     backed by the boss band Los Straitjackets, Nick sounds as vital as ever.  Played it SO much, and still not sick of it (the sign of a fabulous album)

Ozean – Ozean   yes, it’s only 3 songs, and yes, it was recorded in 1991, and yes, they only played 2 shows, but oh, what might have been

Real Estate – Daniel    took me back to the 80’s/90’s in a very good way

Thee Sacred Souls – Got a Story to Tell    beautiful, yearning soul

Zack Matthews – Organized Noise, Sector Seven (Jazz Séance)

Ben Klock / Fadi Mohem – Layer One
Experimental techno and breaks from two of techno’s hardest hitters. Sounds like more of an ode to Richard James than it does their own traditional styles of 4 to the floor hypnotic drivers, which proves to be a most welcome diversion. 5/5. Absolutely fantastic.

Jeff Mills – The Trip: Enter The Black Hol
More experimental techno, this time from the Wizard himself. The vinyl is cut in reverse, playing from inside to out, which is always fun.

Jeff Mills – The Eye Witness
Two albums from Jeff in one year. Couldn’t pick just one. I saw a number of negative comments around this release from “fans” saying things like “seemingly disconnected loops playing out of sync”. Statements like that say more about the current state of the scene than anything I ever could. Again, a great album.

Underworld – Strawberry Hotel
A most welcome return to a traditional LP album format from the heavyweight champions of electronic live acts. Driving, soothing, grating, and melodic at all the right moments.

Sentena and DJ Spence – Smoke Barometer
I love an EP, and this release is a perfect encapsulation of why. Six diverse yet cohesive slices of punk rock electronic that seemingly fit into both multiple yet no genres, at the same time. Out on favorite of the show Doo Records, this release is a reminder of why we love underground electronic music. Dj Spence does it again. Possibly my favorite release of 2024.

DJ Regular – Hedonistic Predilection

Shannon and the Clams – The Moon Is In The Wrong Place

Julián Mayorga – Chak Chak Chak Chak

Lumberob – HUNTER GATHER

Habibi – Dreamachine

Esy Tadesse – Ahadu

Don Stahl – The Afternoon Call

Compilation – Virtual Dreams II, Ambient Explorations in the House & Techno Age, Japan 1993-1999
Plenty of tracks on here for your chillout megamix from the esteemed Music From Memory label.

Broadcast – Distant Call & Spell Blanket compilations
I will not turn down anything “new” from Broadcast, although this appears to be the last of it. A lovely document to appreciate and remember Trish & Co.

Alice Coltrane – The Carnegie Hall Concert
My friend Dan made me aware of this one. We devoured all the Impulse record reissues that were coming out on CD in the 90s so this was a nice surprise. Beautiful recordings of 2 Journey into Satchidananda tracks alongside some choice John Coltrane compositions.

Bremer/McCoy – Cosmos
More chillout megamix material. This one didn’t initially grab me as much as their previous release “Natten” but it’s another batch of beautiful pieces from this “Meditative dub-inspired jazz duo from Copenhagen”

War on Drugs – Live Drugs Again
These guys make great road trip music. They’re also amazing live. My girlfriend loves this group as well so it’s a de facto car record for us.

Kevin – Prognosis Positive

Tusmorke- Dawn of Oberon
The Momrak brothers make weird records.  I don’t even know what category to put them in.  It’s proggy and Psychedelic and folky and jazzy.  They also love Turkish music that shows on their records.  But whatever it is, I love it.  I think this is the best thing that they have done yet.

Chronicles of Father Robin- The Songs and Tales of Airoea: Book lll
This side band of Andreas Wettergreen Stroman Prestmo from Wobbler released 3 albums in about 6 months.  I don’t get the marketing strategy, but these three albums are as good as any three record run by any Progressive Rock band ever. Jethro Tull + Yes+ Rush.  You can’t go wrong with this band.

Tom Penaguin- Tom Penaguin
This young Frenchman produced a record that sounds like it came out of the Canterbury scene of the 1970’s.  This is an instrumental album where Tom plays all the instruments amazingly.

Kavus Torabi- The Banishing
Kavus released two great records this year, one with Gong and this one.  A great Psychedelic pop rock album that some compared to Syd Barrett. I also hear some XTC as well.

Magick Brother & Mystic Sister- Tarot 1
This duo from Spain released 2 records in 2024.  Space rock+ Psychedelic rock+ Canterbury Prog.
